Hi All!

I've been using DosBox for a while, and I stumbled on an interesting compatibily issue with Windows XP (and probably others) with Fatal Fumes.

It seems like the game tries to create a file named LPT1, which windows decides to block totally. (Yet another reason to support Microsoft on 😁 ). A simple hex edit to rename the file is cause the game to fail to start.

I was just thinking is DosBox would be able to translate these illegal files names to another legal filename.

I guess I could install it on a image hard drive, but this type of compatiblity could be useful

LPT1 is a printer (on parallel port). It is a reserved device name. There cannot be any such filename in any DOS/Windows version. Your application probably tries to print something.

creating a device is the same as opening it.
dosbox should handle it. if there was a lpt1 device in dosbox 😀
