Can't init SDL No available video device

Dear all:

I have installed SDL-1.2.8 and dosbox-0.61 sucessfully.

But when I ran dosbox, I encountered the following error.

Exit to error: Can't init SDL No available video device

Can anyone have a suggestion?

Did you install the latest version of graphic driver?
Why don't you use DOSBox 0.63 rather than 0.61?

under windows: do you have directX installed
under linux: start dosbox from X

I wonder where everyone is getting this old 0.61 version from.
