I've been struggling with this game for the better part of two days, and have yet to get it working with sound. My operating system is Xp, and I am using a version which I think is identical to that supplied by the underdogs, since it has their name in the setup.

The game runs fine if I don't use DOSbox: except, of course, that it produces no sound. It does not show the option to run "rungame.exe" with vdmsound for reasons that I don't understand when I right-click. I am sure there's a way to do it manually but I've had other problems, which I'll get into first.

I can't run it at all with DOSbox. This is my first time using it, but I followed the instructions given with the game ("mount d: c:/games/malcolm -t cdrom -ioctl"), ran the setup without a hitch, and then tried to run "rungame.exe" again, and got the message "This program must be run under Microsoft Windows."

Anyone have a clue where to start?

Underdogs uses a cracked and ripped version which I had trouble getting to run myself since Westwood uses some weird stuff to protect their games so I wouldn't count on it too much I'm afraid unless you set it up exactly the way it's supposed to.

So I've heard from browsing the forums, but it seems some people DID manage to get it to work, although their problems were different from mine, and all I'm missing is sound.

I am getting the same error when stying to setup a game.
It's a cd with extra options. (Nine Live - Aerosmith, hence the name) The cd dates back to 1997.
I used to be able to play it on the old pc, windows 95, but if I use set up on XP (professional) it says: requires 6.2 dos or later. 😳 I can't remember what it did on '98.. So now I can't get it installed. When I try running it on DosBox, I get: "This program requires Microsoft Windows."

Any suggestions top my problem?????????

Aerofemme: "This program requires Microsoft Windows." means "This program requires Microsoft Windows.". DOSBox is a DOS emulator. I don't think your problem is related to the one the original poster has.

I remember a loooong thread about that Aerosmith thing here on VOGONS - could it be you're posting under a different account now? Anyway, there were some possible solutions in that thread, just search the forums.

No, I am new. Never figured someone would have posted the Aerosmith thing. Prob. someone from the USA anyways. And I'm from Holland. I've had dosbox for about 6 months now, only to get worms to work. Now I ran into this problem. Figured that it should run under windows, but how can dos on XP not be good/fast enough for the cd to install? That's what I don't get.
