Hi Guys

Been trying to install Strike Commander through DOSBOX but it keeps throwing the same error that I only have 425 k of memory and I need to 586k to run the installation. How do I go about changing the memory in the DOSBox config file?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

obviously the game works for other users (according to the forum search) under Dosbox. And in Dosbox you have normally about 633Kb of free conventional memory. It seems you are doing something wrong.
Are you actually trying to install from within Dosbox?
Which Dosbox version?
Please post EXACTLY what you type in Dosbox once you've started Dosbox.

Hi

Thanks for the quick reply Dominus!

Yep, I'm trying to install the game from within dosbox itself (version 0.72).

The Game files are in a folder called C:\DOS\DOS.

I mount this in dosbox "mount c c:\DOS\DOS" which mounts it fine.

type in "c:"

then type in "install" which takes me to the installation menu of the game, I select "Full Install" and then it gives me that error. Not sure where to go from here!

Any help would be appreciated! Let me know if you need any more info.

Cheers

Tried that as well, get message:

"the expanded/extended memory detected on this computer is insufficient to continue the installation process. 1953k is needed.

Got a machine with:
120 gig hardrive
Dual core 1.8mhs cpu
128 meg GC

Let me know if this si something you could help with, if not, cheers for your help anyway!

Read my 60 Seconds Guide to DOSBox (and don't just read it - follow it too).

If that doesn't help, come back with details on how you mounted your C and D drives, how you did the install, how you configured sound, music etc.

And use the default DOSBox configuration file, not one you have changed stuff in.

Make sure UMB and XMS memory are enabled. You can do without EMS for that game.

BTW, are you installing from floppy or CD-ROM? SC install from floppy is very buggy. Install from CD-ROM should work fine.
