Hello , I'm playing toonstruck with D-fend + dosbox 0.65 , and i've set dos memmory : 32 , core : dynamic , cycles : 20000 , frame skip : 0 , render method : ddraw , and other settings are default , game works great except the sound , in game music works clearly , but when anyone talks (drew , flux) sound gets distorted/stuttered and game gets laggy also , is there anything that i can solve this problem , any help would be apreciated.
Sorry for my english , and if i've posted on wrong section.
Thanks

Ypu posted in the correct section 😀

When you configured the game, did you get a choice of configuring 1) MUSIC, and 2) SOUND EFFECTS ? Perhaps MIDI for music, and SoundBlaster for sound?

What did you choose?

There is no choice like u say , but i did configure soundblaster 16/AWE32 , IRQ 5 , DMA 5 , Port 0x220 , im not using MIDI at all i turned it off from D-Fend/Dosbox. Sound is clear and game runs perfect when i dont talk, but its the fact game and sound stuttering/distorting especially when anyone talks , i hardly hear , but sometimes i can hear clear words/sentences , but as i said its stuttering randomly , i think its messing up due to wrong settings. Please help me guys...

I meant the toonstruck setup , when i installed it , i've set it to soundblaster 16/awe32 , IRQ 5 , DMA 5 , sound is perfect and gameplay runs perfect also but sound gets distorted when there is a talking.

Well , my dosbox sound settings are default
sbtype=sb16
sbbase=220
irq=7
dma=1
hdma=5
mixer=true
oplmode=auto
oplrate=2205

And toonstruck config
[DIGITAL]
DeviceName = Sound Blaster 16/AWE32
DeviceIRQ = 5
DeviceDMA = 5
DevicePort = 0x220
DeviceID = 0xe018
DeviceMonoID = 0xe017
Stereo = 0
TimerRate = 60
Flip = 0

Well , i tried normal Sound Blaster , IRQ 5 , DMA 1 on toonstruck setup that worked too , but i had same problem.

Look - here are the DOSBox values:

sbbase=220
irq=7
dma=1
hdma=5

And is this your Toonstruck values?

DeviceName = Sound Blaster 16/AWE32
DeviceIRQ = 7
DeviceDMA = 5
DevicePort = 0x220

See what could be wrong?

Or maybe this will help:

DOSBox        Toonstruck
------------ ----------
sbtype=sb16 DeviceName = Sound Blaster 16/AWE32
sbbase=220 DevicePort = 0x220
irq=7 DeviceIRQ = 7
dma=1 DeviceDMA = 5
hdma=5

Nvm , after million try i found the perfect sound combination for toonstruck
In dosbox settings

sbtype=sb2
sbbase=220
irq=5
dma=1
hdma=5
mixer=false
oplmode=auto
oplrate=44100

nosound=false
rate=22050
blocksize=4096
prebuffer=10000000 (yea thats true)
Also i changed some more
frameskip : 0
scaler : none
output : overlay
memsize : 32

And my toonstruck configuration is
DeviceName = Sound Blaster
DeviceIRQ = 5
DeviceDMA = 1
DevicePort = 0x220
DeviceID = 0xe000
DeviceMonoID = 0xe000
Stereo = 0
TimerRate = 60
Flip = 0

That may seem like impossible but it worked very well for me , anyways thank you for help.

Ok I made some experience about the configurations. Just insert those values into TOONSTRK.CFG which is in the toonstruck gamefolder (I tried it on xp and kubuntu 8.04 and on kubuntu you have to change the video values too because the toonstruck setup can't autoconfig your video card)

[DIGITAL]
DeviceName = Sound Blaster 16/AWE32
DeviceIRQ = 5
DeviceDMA = 5
DevicePort = 0x220
DeviceID = 0xe018
DeviceMonoID = 0xe017
Stereo = 0
TimerRate = 60
Flip = 0

[VIDEO]
UniVBE = 1
Width = 640
Height = 400
PaletteWidth = 8
Linear = 1

It works perfect now. Enjoy.
