I remember back in the day I played Settlers 2 at 1280x1024 resolution. I think I applied some kind of patch to do that. Alas, my memory fails me. In Dosbox and emulated win98 I can set it to 1024x768 maximum. And I cannot find any patch or way to change this anywhere. Was there ever such a patch? Is there a way or am I just imagining it?
I am not 100% sure, but I don't think we support 1280x1024

0.74 does VESA 1280x1024 and I think 0.73 does as well. I know 0.70 doesn't
Settlers 2 has been rereleased many times, perhaps the 1280 support is available in the newer versions, though I don't play Settlers at all so I don't really know.
