First of, hello guys. I joined the forums because I'm having a small issue with Pool of Radiance. It's really more of an annoyance than an issue, really. Whenever I enter a battle, the screens gets messed up and some parts that are supposed to be colored aren't. So I have to switch from FS(Fullscreen) to windowed mode. This only seems to happen in FS. Also, when the battle is over, there's a pretty big chance of happening again, but it doesn't happen ALL the time, more like 80% of the time. If anyone can help me with this annoyance, I'd be really grateful.

Gordth, try using a different output setting such as openglnb or overlay.

@h-a-l: Oh, sorry about that, then.

@rcblanke: Ok rc, I'll try that and let you know the results. 😀

I've removed the bump and related postings so you don't look like a complete retard.

Since the issue does not happen in windowed mode, please post full system specs if rcblanke's advice does not help.

Are you sure you are using the new setting? Please type

output

just before starting the game to see what the output option is set to.

Yeah...it still says surface even though I change the setting to overlay. So yeah...sorry about that. Got any idea why it happens?

Hehe, you're not the first to experience this 😀

What did you do to set the option, exactly? You should be able to define the output setting (and all other DOSBox settings) using the Windows Start menu->All programs->DOSBox-0.74->Options->DOSBox 0.74 Options

BTW If you have multiple DOS games that you want to use DOSBox for, consider using a frontend.

Okay, now I have a new question...what's a frontend?

Also, the overlay thing worked out great! I think the game looks much better than it did before. 😀 So, thank you.

A frontend, e.g. "Dfend Reloaded" is a program that gives you an easier to use surface to start programs using Dosbox - in many cases without having to go through every manual setting dosbox uses.
