I tried dosbox 0.63, then when I noticed that BC4000 was not supported I installed dosbox 0.60 and tried that (where it is supported, according to the dosbox web site). However, I get identical behavior either way; I can run the setup program (but I have no idea what video card to choose!) For now I leave all the sound off. Then I run bc4000.exe and my dosbox window resizes like it's going into a graphical mode.... then it just sits there and nothing happens. I've left it for hours and really nothing happens 😒

I've tried it natively on my W98SE box, and it tries to reset the screen, then gives up and I get dumped back in my desktop. I've tried it in dosbox on both my W98 and Linux systems, and I get the exact same behavior above in both.

Anyone have any hints?

It works for me. Use Trident as video card. (The dosbox emulated card is a S3, but trident seems to work anyways.)
I didn't need any other special settings and run it at 25000 cycles quite comfortably.
