Hello everyone,

i habe the following problem when trying to play GK 1 with
(the great) dosbox, i hope someone can help me:
When i start the game and gabriel enters the first room, he starts talking
to a woman. The conversation is displayed by printing the sentences
at the bottom of the screen. The problem now is that everything what is
said appears and disappears much to fast to be readable.
I tried lowering the cycles options, tryed to slow down my whole pc
with some application. Everything in the game slows down,
only the "text speed" stays the same.

Can anybody help me?

In additon to this problem, i am somewhat confused by
the systemrequirements: the cd (german, limited collectors edition)
states that the game runs under win95/98. But when
installing the game it looks like its an ordinary dos game.
Playing the game under xp with compatiblity mode win95 turned
on does not work at all (the game crashes after displaying the sierras logo)

any help is deeply aprecciated.

Regards Kevin

did you mount the cdrom correctly ? (lowlevel options) See "intro cdrom" inside dosbox
some games have matches the text speed to some cdrom audio track

no audio track detected -> high speed text

Water flows down the stream
How to ask questions the smart way!

"Playing the game under xp with compatiblity mode win95 turned

Someone made a patch for GK1 under WinXP, I believe. (Don't know if 98, and 2k are supported.) Search for it in the DOS forum on this site.
The solution to get GK1 running by using dosbox is posted a few times in the DOS forum as well as this forum. Search for it.

... // bda. very bda!
... // but only if you turn godo into csah.

Yes, either turn voice off in the menu, or make sure you have actual voices - if you go text only, it won't try to calibrate its lenght to the voice.
