I've been browsing these forums for a solution on how to get FT2 working, but I couldn't really find an answer.

However, I've kind of got it up and running.

My system's a Pentium M 1.73ghz, 1gb ram, ATI mobility x700xl,
sound card is a Realtek HD Audio (nice latency on this, <10ms in Ableton Live)

Frameskip=1, cycles=10000

Using SoundBlaster with interpolation, 16bit mixing, 44000 and stereo, I can play 8 channels perfectly.

Using GUS Ultrasound with interpolation, 16bit mixing, 44000 and stereo, I can play 32 channels perfectly.

However, it seems GUS can't play 16bit samples properly, so I'm looking for tips on how to optimise the SoundBlaster performance..

I can get 20000+ cycles on my 1.15Ghz Celeron, with frameskip=1, which is enough for 16-20 channels playing at once at "full quality". Have you set core=dynamic in dosbox.conf ? That will give a 2-4x speedup for FT2. Also, you might want to try a recent CVS build, which may be a bit faster than 0.63.
