Hi, I downloaded The Elder Scrolls: Arena off Bethesda Softworks' website awhile back, and I've only now just begun to start seriously playing it. However, the problem is that it runs rather poopy. In the beginning dungeon, the framerate is fine but when I step out into the town, things start getting messy - I even have the detail turned all the way down. My CPU Cycles are set to 15,000 and the music skips and the game framerate drops every now and then in the shops. Is there anything I can do to improve the performance of the game? Here are my system specs:

Pentium 4 1.8 GHz
ATI Radeon 9500 Pro
SB Live! Wave Device
Windows XP Home Edition (SP1)

Use the latest CVS version of DosBox.

Try different Sound cards like Gravis for sound instead of SB or an older SB card.

Don't just set DosBox to "15,000 cycles", monitor your cpu usage with Task Manager and make sure that you don't exceed 95%.

Make sure that your using either output=overlay or output=surface since they eat up less cycles than the other output methods.

Make sure that your not using any scalers.

Make sure that your using dynamic core.
