Hi there,

Just discovered dosbox, outstanding app but you all knew that. I've managed to get the zipfile for this game, one of my all time faves, from abandonia. However, the patch on HOTU seems to corrupt the installation (dosbox throws illegal opcode errors, but unpatched it runs fine) and gnbna.8m.com has lost their link. IIRC the patch seems to correspond to the super ships expansion pack more or less.

So...does anyone have the patch? The game is a lot better with it than without and I don't know where else to ask.

Any assistance or pointers also appreciated. In return, if anyone needs help getting gnbna 1 going I've managed to do that on a fairly low-spec AMD and can help out. The only problem I'm seeing is that the function keys to change stations don't work, even though the menu selection does.

I think nobody isn't going to help you because abandonwarez (and any abandonwarez/piracy related questions) aren't allowed here.

Here is the dosbox.conf for it anyway, if anyone is interested.

It is modified from another posting to reduce cycles since my machine is slower--AMD 1.6 Ghz equivalent, 512 MB memory, onboard sound and graphics, nothing fancy at all. It runs W98 but a lot of old games don't seem to want to run any more even in MSDOS mode on this box.

Playing with the sound prebuffer seems to have been the charm for this one. Also backed off hardware sound accel. to 0

Leave your rantings for someone who can do something about it. All we do is run a software forum to help people run their games. Obviously we can't go around posting links to abandonware/warez. You don't like it? Stop bitching and write your congressman. Heck, you probably don't even know who that is.

if you'r looking for patches for old (or less older) games, i can recommend one really good site

this site has an incredible patch database, even one for really old game (circa 80's)
