Well hell, it's a new release!
And yet Abandoned Places still won't run. That aches, truly. Once I finish electing my team of adventurers, I click on the hard to see button on the lower right, and the game hangs. There is a setup program, but once setting it up, I do not see a .ini or .cgf file written.
I do notice a .txt file named named "setup", and it is writable and shows changes. But I have never seen a config file as a text file in any DOS game I have ever played.
So I try and rename the extension to .cfg or.ini and still no luck. I guess this one is still broken.

The game has been working in DOSBOX correctly for ages and ages... If you check the other DOSBOX window you will see something like this:

CONFIG:Loading settings from config file C:\DOSBox-0.65\dosbox.conf
MIDI:Opened device:win32
Warning: file creation failed: d:\dosbox\AP\SAVE\SAVE

In other words - the game is just missing the directory SAVE... Create it (just the empty directory SAVE) , start the game and behold and wonder - no freezing... 😀

Thanks. I could have played the game for the Amiga with WinUAE, but I love DOS games too, and want 'em all! heh
