when i try to save or load in the game it says unexpected error saving 3 or something like that. But when i run the game out of dosBox it saves and loads but runs way to fast and no sound. How do I correct this problem?
you can start by telling us which drives and how you mounted them in DOSBox.
futher make sure that there are no write-protected files around
error 3 means path not found. So it might indicated a wrong mount point or a missing SAVES directory

ok i mounted the game by typing: mount c c:\buck2 (which is my game directory and buck2 has the save directory in it.) the game is on my hard drive. The thing is countdown to doomsday saves and loads fine when i mount it the same way. also how do i check to see if files are write-protected? Thanks for the help.
Assuming you're using Windows, open up explorer, right click on the buck2 folder -> properties -> See if "Read only" is checked. If so, uncheck it -> "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders, and files"
for the sake of argument (dosbox will warn you)
try mounting c c:\
or placing buck2 in c:\games and mounting c:\games
This way inside dosbox the game will be in c:\buck2
