I am trying to install windows 3.11 and am having a problem with garbled text, i searched the forum, but couldn't find anything similar.

as soon as the installer starts, everything is layed out correctly, it just seems that every character has been replaced with one from a different character set. This same behaviour seems to happen when you run "setup /?" aswell.

If i install by guessing what the options mean, it does the same when windows runs aswell, all the graphics are fine, but the text seems to be replaced with other text.

has anybody else experienced this?

are you installing some foreign version of win3.11 ?

Now i feel like a complete and utter goose.

I thought it was an english version, but just checked the setup.inf file only to find the text exactly the same in there, so obviously your right, it is a non-english version..

I spent all morning playing with codepage convertion tables in windows and totally forgot to check the copy i was installing..
