Hello, I am new to this group and I have a question. A couple years ago, I purchased the DOS based game Darkseed on CD-ROM and tried to get it working on a 486. I was able to get to the stage of almost all gameplay working successfully except for some of the sound. I could get the little beeping sounds to work fine, whereas character dialogue and background music did not work.
Recently, I discovered DOSBOX and downloaded Darkseed from [REMOVED], an "abandonware DOS games site." I am able to run Darkseed through DOSBOX, with the beep noises, yet music and speech still won't work. What should I do?

Did you select soundblaster? Don't know how it should really sound,
but the music was present when using start.exe and choosing the
sound blaster device.
Maybe lowering the cycles helps as well.

I now selected soundblaster and was able to get the music to work without dialogue. Any suggestions about getting the speech to work as well?

Guess they ripped the speech from that version, but don't know.

The Amiga CD32 version has speech and I believe the speech loads directly from the cd so the problem might be with how the cddrive is configured. Its hard to believe the PC CD version not having speech 😦

I guess it had speech, but if you downloaded it somewhere it's unlikely
that they left speech in, especially if it's on audio tracks.
