You shouldn't be thinking of x86 and portable in the same breath, like xscale, the x86 based portables suck way too much power.
Far better to go with the ARM-based TI OMAP2420 linux pdas (ok 'internet tablets') from Nokia. NO THEY'RE NOT PHONES. check out the Nokia N810

So you can see that memory/paging is pretty cpu intensive, next to the core. Where is the 'verysimple' core by Boris Letocha? it doesn't seem to be included in n0p's source releases for his PPC Xscale/Arm builds 🙁
