I remember these things from my youth - really simple command-line tools such as "speak.com" or "say.com" or whatever, where you would simply write something like "SAY CZECHOSLOVAKIA" and it would perform simple, crude, wonderful speech synthesis on the 1-bit PC speaker of my XT clone...

I've been wondering if I could hear this again using DOSbox, but.... I could not find any of these programs on the web, even after an extensive search. Now, if I remember correctly, a lot of them were really simple shareware/free programs, so I thought it would probably be legal to ask here if anyone has one of these old things.

So.... can anyone hook a nostalgic bastard up? 😉

Here you go 😀 I don't see any license info but like most software on BBSes in the 80s that get collected it is most likely public domain.

I also threw in HELPME for a great novelty measure.

Hats off, good sir! That's exactly the one I was looking for.

I've actually managed to find some others since making that post, but they're all completely independent of machine speed - with this one you get the bonus of pitch-control by playing with the cpu cycles 😁
