I have searched for an answer and tried many different routes, read the FAQ thoroughly and editied the config file and keymap etc.. the problem I am having is the ability to play back the avi video I recorded, the sound is okay but not video.

I am using os x leopard 10.5.2 and the latest version of dosbox v0.72, I dont know about my mobo etc... but can tell you that AVI's I have downloaded from the internet playback fine and I havent really had to change the dosbox config file - it all just worked.

I read a webpage that related to a ZMBV codec but that was for windows and the structure is absent from the os x version and I think that codec is inside the mac version. I am not sure.

I have a MacBook and its a 2GHz and lots of ram I dont know about the graphic card
Many thanks.

First step would be to figure out if the video is recorded okay.

Can someone else (with a Windows PC) see & hear DOSBox videos you have made?

Can you see & hear DOSBox videos made by someone else?

This should almost always be the case, as dosbox directly writes out the
video/audio data (no codec needed).
Does somebody else with leopard know if video playback already works
or can be made to work somehow?

Well I don't know whats wrong, if you can see it then surely its recording okay. To view your video I got the coponent dialogue and now have to d/l something - how come this isn't built in?!

I don't know which one to get: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/resources/comp … ubtype=5a4d4256

Hmm. I am not sure either. I assumed that selecting one of the builds would lead to a download link, but there is none.

Okay - found the download page:

http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/macosx-intel/?C=M;O=D

I think the one at the top (sorted by date descending) is what you need.

None of the DosBox devs have Macs and none are interested in developing on Macs. In addition everyone on the PC despises QuickTime and for good reason (further hindering interesting in creation of a plugin).

Probably the best bet is to contact the people who port DosBox to OSX and ask them what programs they use to play ZMBV encoded videos. You could also bug the VLC devs and ask them when they are going to release v0.9 of VLC.

Say what you will about QT, but its better than WMP, and the Apple formats are better than WMV. Oh and not forgetting that on a Mac it works a lot smoother, a lot like PDFs with their instant rendering.

Tell me, have you ever used the sliderule to FF or RW in WMP, jittery and no feedback as to what scene your in. Try it in QT and you'll see realtime rendering of the actual position.

Anyway, just came to say if you are a Mac user fear not, throw out VLC because the new Perian v1.1 update just fixed the playback issues in QT. QuikTime now plays the DOSbox AVI videos!!
