Ive asked around and someone suggested dosbox, I downloaded it and then had another problem, they suggested some sort of wikipedia for dosbox, and it said any more questions to come here. Well basically, I followed this article:
http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Basic_Setup_and_In … ation_of_DosBox
right up until this bit

Hopefully, you're all set! Now, it's time to run the game. Previously I had mentioned a game called TESTDRIV in my OLDGAMES folder. I now want DOSBox to go to that folder. So type in:
C:\>CD TESTDRIV

C:\TESTDRIV>

Im trying to play settlers 2, so I dont know what to type in for this part and also dont know where to put the settlers folder or the exe or w/e.

I have very little knowledge about technical stuff so please be patient with me and explain things in very basic techy language.

Thanks a lot![/quote]

Read my 60 Seconds Guide to DOSBox (and don't just read it - follow it too).

If that doesn't help, come back with details on how you mounted your C and D drives, how you did the install, how you configured sound, music etc.

Reading the aptly named README file will be a good idea too.

You need DOSBox to play the DOS games you buy, or download legally.

Vista can't run fullscreen DOS games that use graphics modes unless you install Windows XP drivers.

You need to use DOSBox instead as was stated before.

Ook, new question. If I get the game, why do I need dosbox? I thought the point of it would be so you dont need to buy the games?

You attempted to play the game without having/installing it? 😳
