Well, for one, frotz is a z interpreter, not the game itself.

2nd, frotz is very portable, so you don't need to run it in DOSBox at all (you could if you wanted to, but again, not necessary.)

Just get it for the OS you need
http://frotz.sourceforge.net/

You can run your game like
frotz gamefile

So for The Lurking Horror, it's LURKING.DAT

So
frotz LURKING.DAT

Et Voila!

Thanks for the help. BOD & Kit.
And BOD -- ya killed me with the Lurking Horror screenshot. 🤣

As far as Frotz goes, the link you kindly provided doesn't have Frotz or Macintosh. 🤣
I hadta jump through a lot of hoops ta find the Macintosh version.
And once I did, it isn't at all a GUI experience -- it runs in Terminal .... 🤣
I couldn't make heads or tails of it -- not unlike Nord & Burt 8^ ]

So thanks, guys, just the same, it seems as if I'll hafta find alternative ways ta do it.

😀

If you are on Macintosh, try Zoom to play Infocom games:

As far as I can tell, Zoom needs the extension .z5 to be added to the game executive file and works with DOS versions as well as with original Mac versions of the games.
