I'm able to run it fine directly under WinXP using VDMSound, but I can imagine that it may have problems with systems that don't have EMS support.

Albion is runnable with a small modification. DOSBOX crashes when EXE program playing intro is executed (external program is called for this)
So I did this (using original English version of Albion):
1. Make new CD by copying content of the Albion CD without that EXE file which runs intro (I do not remember now its name - but you will find it). You can burn it or better use just CD image in CD emulator (like Daemon Tools).
2. Install normally - Albion works ok - when it does not find that EXE program to run intro, it just skips it. The game then works ok (just no intro). 😀
