Was just looking at the nice summary that Nicht Sehr Gut wrote up for VDMSound installation (over on the VDMSound forum); the levels of support for both high and low-level DMA, etc. was very handy.

Has anybody done the same for the latest release of DOSBox? For example, Team F1 (Pole Position) gives you the following sound options for Sound Blaster when setting up:

Sound Blaster 1.5 (2 plugs)
Sound Blaster Pro (T1330 old)
Sound Blaster 2.0 (3 plugs)
Sound Blaster Pro CT1600 (new)
Sound Blaster 16
Sound Blaseter AWE32

I normally just choose the lowest level, but found with experimentation that I could go as high as Sound Blaster 2.0 and still come out okay. From Sound Blaster Pro on up it was, well, nicht so gut 😉

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I might be a little biased, but I would suggest selecting "Gravis Ultrasound" whevener possible since often if any sound mixing is done this will take the burden off the CPU emulation core. (i.e., your game will run faster)
