At first, I usually don't speak english!

I've downloaded the new version of DosBox (0.6.0) and I trid to play ToonStruck and realy - it run! But very slowly. The program says to me the follow sentence:

"Could not configure linear acces to video memory."

What can I do? Will the problem killed by the next version of DosBox?

Hope you'll help me and sorry for my English 😉 your Commuzo

Thank you all for the fast answers!

The suggestion Strecko said, doesn't help - the game crashed by starting 🙁

Then i've to wait for another version of DosBox which support linear acces to video memory...

indeed you cannot run it in DosBox, but you can with VDMSound.

See here: Toonstruck runs slooooowly
I'll quote it for you:

You might consider running it natively with VDMSound. Since you're running a GF4 video card, you would need to run NOLFB.COM first. You would need to place NOLFB.COM as the first entry in your TOONSTRK.BAT file (if you didn't install NOLFB.COM along with VDMSound 2.10, you will also need to define it's pathway [unless you just copy NOLFB.COM into the game directory]).

ToonStruck seems to be very demanding with audio resources, so you would need to use a plain SoundBlaster instead of a "SoundBlaster 16" (which you would be using in DosBox anyway).

Also, the game runs normally in 640x400 mode, as opposed to 640x480 mode (where it appears in "Letterbox" format), so you might consider manually changing the video configuration to that.

Not sure if the GF4 supports 640x400 in XP...I know the GF3 does.

In any case, I've attached the game's config file. Just download it, change the CD-ROM letter to match your own, and rename it to TOONSTRK.CFG. Set up NOLFB as I mentioned earlier, then run VDMSound on TOONSTRK.BAT

If you haven't already installed VDMSound, you would obviously need to do that first.

Just follow those instructions and be sure to configure the VDMSound command line adding the parameter -u:
TOONSTRK.BAT -U

should work with no problems.

either you're SWAT or you're not.

Hi. Sorry for bringing up this old topic again, but I've read all the threads about running toonstruck on XP, and tried them. Still don't work. I've tried both VDMsound and NOLFB.COM. I get this error message:

DOS/4GW Protected Mode Run-time Version 1.97
Copyright (c) Rational Systems, Inc. 1990-1994

ToonStruck. Version 3.1

CPU: Pentium SosID: E000 Stereo: OFF TimerRate: 60
FATAL: Could not configure a 256 color video mode!!

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks anyway.
