After trying to get 1830 to work under VDMSound on my new MB, I decided to try the new version of DOSBox.

I was able to run 1830 under 0.58 but with 0.60, I'm getting lockups after the game has been running a bit (2-3 minutes.)

Here are my system particulars:

System details:

MB = Asus A7N8X Deluxe
Chip = AMD 2500+ (not overclocked)
RAM = 512MB
Video = PNY Nvdia Ge4 Ti4200 w/128MB
Sound = Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
OS = Windows XP SP1

1830 is very similar to Master of Magic (written by the same folks, SimTex) but I never had any trouble playing it under VDMSound until I "upgraded" to a nForce chipset motherboard. It requires EMS.

Does anyone know what might have changed in 0.60 that would cause it to go wonky? 😜

With all that stuff you have inside your PC box, I would check if the case or CPU isn't overheating. Try getting a thermal monitor program and running CPUBurn in it for a while to see what happens.

Oh yeah, the nForce drivers can be a problem, buggy as hell. Try the latest nForce drivers at the NVIDIA site. Those seem to be decent, even if WinAmp 3 still choked on them. Make sure to uninstall the old drivers before installing new drivers.
