try mounting the cd drive with the the same driver letter that was used while installing the game in windows: "mount k k:\ -t cdrom".

If that doesn't work, you might want to try an iso (or bin+cue if you want to use cd music) image instead of the original cd. That definitely works with the original EF2000 CD.

Found the source. I run the game through config.exe, so "_ef2000.exe" was used as the game executable, not "ef2000.exe".

You can call _ef2000.exe directly with the following batch:

set DID=.
set quick_flag=1
_ef2000.exe gui

hi, i have one request:

i need a copy of ef2000 v.2.0 (a iso image is better).
i have original copy of super ef-2000, but it doesn't support 3dfx.
i try to search in e-bay or amazon, but i don't find it or the price is too expensive.
someone have one copy of this game (version 2.0)?

Well, the trouble is the game itself.
You must run the game with ef2000.exe, not the _ef2000.exe.
But - the config's "Run GFX+" use _ef2000...
The same error is presenting in the "EF2000: Tactcom" + 3dfx patch combo...

If you don't mind me resurrecting this old post, I finally managed to get this game working.

Problems are the following:

- SETUP.EXE installs regular EF2000 under Windows or DOS, but not EF2000 optimized for Rendition or 3Dfx.

- EF2000 optimized for Rendition or 3Dfx won't install under modern 64-bit Windows.

The solution is simple, use a program such as Virtual PC, VMWare or VirtualBox and Windows XP to install both regular EF2000 and / or EF2000 optimized for Rendition or 3Dfx. They're both for DOS, so you only have to move the installation folders outside the virtual drive afterwards.

Now, to run EF2000 v2.0 from DOSBox:

- Regular version: Mount the installation folder and mount the ISO or CD-ROM, run EF2000.EXE from your install folder.

- 3Dfx version: Just the same thing, but you'll also need to set up Taewoong's build of DOSBox, version Jan. 3. 2015 or newer and these two options: glide=true and memsize=63.

And that's it.

EF 2000 2.0/GFX+ patch uses statically linked glide. So - glide=true not works, only glide=emu.

I've been able to run both "EF2000" and "Whiplash" using those settings and latest Taewoong's build of DOSBox. AFAIK it's because now Taewoong's build of DOSBox includes the 3dfx Internal Voodoo Emulation by kekko.

Yes, I was wrong. The last build uses glide=emu automatically...
