for some reason ultima 4 with upgraded graphics doesn't work properly in the new version of dosbox. the intro screen looks garbled and the actual game graphics do not use the patch update for some reason but the normal ones. for some reason ultima 5 (with upgraded music) does work in this version, while it didnt in earlier ones. seems i can never get both to work at the same time.
i couldn't get ultima VII to work on 0.61 either, it says i have to diseable the dos memory extender. is there any way i can do this??

modify values in dosbox.conf: xms and ems can be true or false
And of course EMS should definitely be false for Ultima 7!
Just to remind: the original message concerned *ultima 4*, not ultima 7, which is *completely* different game.

it does work in 0.60 so i thought maybe it was some bug that developers would be interested in. this just applies to ultima 4 with the 256 graphics upgrade and the midi addon.
You need to set machine=vga in your dosbox.conf file in order to get the patched version of Ultima 4 to work under DosBox 0.61. The game is getting into trouble when it tries to detect the video card under 0.61, probably due to the new Tandy emulation. Setting DosBox to VGA solves this problem.
