Touché: no MIDI music?

I would like to get MIDI music working in 'Touché: The Adventures of the Fifth Musketeer'. I have actual MIDI hardware (MT-32 and SC-50) hooked up via a Roland UM-One USB cable. MIDI passthrough works fine in all other games so far, as well as in ScummVM even for this game. But not in DOSBox.

On installation the game offers the option for either 'LAPC-1' or 'General MIDI card', but anything other than 'Adlib' or 'Soundblaster' produces no music at all.

Does anyone know how to get this working? DOSBox settings, game settings etc.?

Try mpu401=uart in DOSBox settings.

Yes, that did the trick, thanks!

Anywhere I can read up on what that does / when it would be required?

Well, you can find plenty of information online (e.g. Wikipedia) about the MPU-401 interface regarding its intelligent versus UART modes. It appears this particular game assumes UART-only, which is kind of bad design, but not unheard of in later DOS games.

From the gameplay vids, the MIDI sounds like it should be a pretty good listen on proper hardware, but I am not finding much about what that would be.
