DOSBox 0.61 cannot capture MIDI output if you select Roland Sound Canvas or MPU-401 as the MIDI device. It captures the MIDI if you select Sound Blaster devices (SB, SBPro, SB16), but not MPU-401 or Roland. It does however, capture the sound effects.

System specifications:
Computer: Dell Latitude C800 Laptop (I don't know the motherboard).
OS: Windows 2000 Pro
Processor: Pentium III 850 Mhz
Video Card: ATI Mobility 4 16 MB
RAM: 256 MB
Sound Card: ESS Maestro

does any other game work for you with general midi/mpu-401/sound canvas in dosbox?

Monopoly Deluxe with Roland Sound Canvas doesn't work. Warcraft 2 with General Midi (MPU-401) also doesn't work. Prehistorik with (R) MT32 (I think it's Roland) also doesn't work.
