In areas where there are ambient sounds, like fire burning or the beat of a drum, there is a delay when voice acting or sounds plays. They play at least a second too late compared to the animation and it's very noticeable. Areas where only music plays seem to be fine and don't have this issue. I haven't touched DosBox's settings, except using the "Graphic Mode Setup" that's in the game directory to keep the aspect ratio intact, changed the scaling engine to 3x and set the window. resolution to that of my monitor. This is on a laptop with Windows 8.1, with a quad-core Intel Core i5-3230M CPU @ 2.60GHz and 8 GB DD3 RAM.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This isn't the GOG forums. You bought it there so go there for support.

With that said if you've tried it with the official version of DOSBox with a default dosbox config and have patched the game and gone here http://www.sierrahelp.com/ and reviewed everything and posted on those forums about the issue then feel free to ask here.

According to this GOG has switched to ScummVM for this game:
