Hello, folks! =)

I just learning DosBox so bear with me here! I dragged my executible (dreamweb.exe) onto dosbox.exe and I get this error...

Dreamweb has an error.
Sound blaster card not found at 220 hex.
it goes from there talking about the differnt ways I can type in the command prompt to switch settings on my sound card.

What do I do from here? I"ve tried D-fend and boxer and either I'm and idiot (probably so) but I can't get them to work either, with BOTH of those I get the error

ERROR: PROGRAM FILE (-conf.exe) NOT FOUND.

Press any key to exit.

What is going on? Thanks guys!

Hello folks,

i am running latest v0.63 with cdrom game Dreamweb
all works fine except i cannot load gamesave, it
always quit to my win2k sp4. i see savefiles are
found on dir where i copied whole cd. Other game i play (Betrayal at Krondor) works fine as on native DOS environment.

Any help is welcome 😀

Copying from a CD usually creates read-only files (and maybe also directories). Are you sure that the save-dir is not write-protected?

for example:
i copied original dreamweb cd to d:\games\dreamweb,
assigned path to drive D. Played game, saved
(savefiles are in same location, no dirs or write attribs).
Next time i ran game and selected load, DOSBOX
automatically quit session. in gamedir is textfile
with letter D (drive), where game is located, it was
also on cd only thing i changed is drive to D. I tried
to assign another (cdrom) drive with original cd inside,
but nothing happened. thats all i know folks... 😀 thanks
anyway.

I know it is nice to be able to play a game off the hard-disk instead of having to insert a CD everytime, but when you are having problems with a game, it is best to go back to basics:

  1. Delete everything in that D:\Games\DreamWeb directory.
  2. Insert CD in drive.
  3. Start DOSBox.
  4. In DOSBox, mount up drive C and D.
    Z:>mount C "D:\Games\DreamWeb"
    Z:>mount D "D:\" -t cdrom -ioctl
  5. Install the game from D: to C:
    Z:>D:
    D:>install (or setup, or whatever....)
  6. Configure sound, ....
  7. Start game.
