Hi!
Not so much about getting one to run as about remembering which one it was. Maybe someone can help my memory?
It was a DOS text adventure, home-brew parser. You awaken in the night and there's a hooded figure saying something about "hast not thou always dreamt of adventure? Come! Come!" or something along these lines (note the old English diction). Then you look around the room and there's a Casio synth and some other items. Notably, the bugger you flung onto the ceiling is still hanging there (yech!).
I seem to remember there were magic words. One transformed you into a frog if I recall correctly. One of them was "zott" or some such.
Help appreciated! Thank you!

That's quite loose, are you aware how many homebrew and not homebrew text adventures existed?
It's the oldest genre by the way, they was played by our grandfathers already in the '6os.

Hmmm... if i stupidly enter the phrase "hast not thou always dreamt of adventure? Come! Come!" into Google the top answer is "The Adventures of David" (the David from the Bible).

Probably this will help you to find the proper computer game.

Perhaps here?:

You must know "robot loves kitten", the usual procedure is trial an d error.

If you enter a less specific "text adventure" you get about 2300 results - have pun.

You said "text adventure" but it has graphics and not only showing glyphs or plain text?

I guess it could be easier to write a new one as to search for the old 😉

"need more input" 😀

I see you asked already on tipofmyjoystick, a sluggish and loveless site imho, (you type somewhere yes and the stupid bot assumes the problem is solved, stupid, stupid, stupid exactly this is what i hate, it couldn't be further apart from intelligent acting and by this i don't mean especially the bot).

Could be really hard, just guess how many text adventure engines existed? 100, 1000?
Let's assume 100
Let's assume 1000 used it and 10% published their work.
100 x 100 = 10'000
OK
1% are still 1000 games.
A long way to go for you.

Really it could be a lot easier to grab such an old text adventure engine and to re-write it or write your own.
It isn't that hard and it can be as much fun as playing.
Sure it is allowed even to trans-scribe one from a book, get into it 😉

Let me know if you succeeded i could make use of a texter 😀
