This problem has persisted ever since I first tried DOSBox at version .61, continuing to the current version. Every time I try to start the game I get this error message:

"Protected mode driver is not responding to EMS function calls. Make sure your EMS driver is not configured with the NOEMS option. If it is, replace the option 'NOEMS' with 'RAM'."

I've already searched and found that the common solution to the problem is to edit the config file and set ems=false. But the problem is that I've already done that and it still gives me the error message. I've also tried loadfix -1 to no avail as well.

I'm getting a little frustrated that the solution that has been working for everyone else refuses to work for me.

Man, I feel silly now. I had been dragging the PRIV.EXE icon over the the DOSBox icon to start it the entire time, and that's what was causing the problem. Setting up the CD drive, mounting the Privater directory, and then trying to run the game works.
