hi, im very new to DOS emulation, so feel free to laugh at me if i say something you consider stupid. i have managed to mount my d drive, and am trying to install and play conmmand and conquor on windows 2000.I am trying to run the file called INTALL.exe which smoehow links it to run a file called SETUP.MIX. apparently this program cant handle this file type although on the main website, it says command and conquor is fine to run.

please help me get around this and play this classic brilliant game!

Let's see.. Did you mount your CD-ROM like "mount D: D:\ -t cdrom" ?
If not then you should do it that way.
Also if you put in "-aspi" OR "-ioctl" and add to the end "-usecd 0" you should be okay.
It depends and I think -ioctl is avaible in Windows 2000.
So what you would normally do is "mount D: D:\ -t cdrom -ioctl -usecd 0" for as much available emulation we have.
Also Mount your HD like "mount C: C:\" and you'll be good to go.
That's all I've had to do and it should work for you in DOSBox 0.63.
Haven't had issues since.

It's also worth it to note that, unless you replace the DOS4GW stub in game.dat/game.new (depending on whether or not you have the lastest version of the game) with the DOS32/A stub, C&C will only run under the normal core. Further details are in the Breakthrough with A Final Unity thread.
