I read all dragonsphere topic here but didn't find satisfactory answer. The problem is: Speech feature in CD version of Dragonsphere in unusable. Crackling mess covers everything. The same with VDMSound.
It doesn't matter what soundblaster type I set in game setup and dosbox configuration file. The effect is always same. 0.63

If you use the emulated SoundBlaster for sound effects (speech), then try this before running D.S.:
Z:\>mixer sb d-20

I tried to play with a mixer but the sound corruption is still present in its previous level. It seems as it doesn't depend on the mixer settings. 😠
Running Dragonsphere in VDMSound has exactly the same effect!
