I don't see any other posts on this subject on this topic so:

I'm trying to run WC3 (MS-DOS) on my computer, funny thing is, it runs perfectly through the command prompt, but no VESA detected, so I can't get the prettier colors of SVGA mode.

Is there a way to enable VESA when running through the command prompt, or force the game to run in SVGA?

Also, there's a bit of a problem I have whenever running the game on DOSBOX.

I get that message saying that there is a problem with GFSAMPLE.IFF and that I've got a bad cd. Any way around that as well?

well, it's pretty standard:

z:\>mount c c:\ (config files)

c: mounted

z:\>mount f f:\ (Disc drive)

f: mounted

Z:\>f:

f:\>wc3
.
.
.
.
.
.

error loading file: ..\...\GFSAMPLE.IFF

and you know the rest.

I have EMS set to false.

No other changes besides that.

update: Now it doesn't work from windows' command prompt.

I am guessing that F drive is a CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive, right?

If so, you must specify a -t cdrom statement. You even have some more fine-tuning command-line parameters when mounting (read the readme file).

E.g.

mount f f:\ -t cdrom -ioctl -label WC3
