😕

Ok I have the newest version of DosBox and the CD vs of AOtD...When I go to run the game it plays the intro movie - but then returns an error saying it can't find a resource.cfg - i looked in the games folder and theres one it there..

Is there a problem with the installer? 😕

1. How did you install it?
2. How are your mounting the drives in DOSBox?
3. What does that resource.cfg contain?

i installed in DosBox - and out of DosBox..the install is rather quick tho (only like 10 secs..) But doesnt give any errors.

I mount the cdroms like: mount D D:\ -t cdrom
I mount the game dir like: mount C C:\Dynamix\AODCD

The resource.cfg is below

videoDrv = VESA.DRV
soundDrv = ADL.DRV
audioDrv = DACBLAST.DRV
joyDrv = NO
mouseDrv = STDMOUSE.DRV
memoryDrv = ARM.DRV
directory = \DYNAMIX\AODCD
audio = .
SCTDIRECTORY = .
doclanguage = ENGLISH
language = 1
cmd = aod
minCPU = 386
minhunk = 1k
audiosize=64k
cd=yes
[SoundFX]
Driver#=E000
DMA=1
IRQ=7
PortAddress=220
[Music]
Driver#=A002
PortAddress=388
[SoundSet]
pathSoundPlay=.\sound\
pathDrivers=.\sound\
digiFile=.\sound\sonarret.raw
digiName=sonar ping
midiFile=.\sound\departra.hmp
midiName=music
[language]
uselanguage=English

[FlicPlayer]
pathFlic=D:\intro\

<snip>

The directory entry looks VERY suspecious!! Once you have started DOSBox and mounted the real C:\Dynamix\AODCD as DOSBox's C:\, anything in DOSBox that refers to C:\DYNAMIX\AODCD is really C:\Dynamix\AODCD\DYNAMIX\AODCD - and I doubt that directory exists - or???

That resource.cfg - that is from an non-DOSBox install I assume??

Try to delete everything in the real C:\Dynamix\AODCD, start DOSBox and then mount your C and D drives as you described earlier. Then (in DOSBox) go to D: and run the installer.

Ok - the game runs, a little choppy (but i can stand it)
But I have no sound! I ran AOtD Soundset.exe - and it found a Soundblaster 16...but there is no sound in the soundset prog or the game.

Check the section on Special Keys in the readme. Look for the keys that will allow you to raise the number of CPU cycles.
