I cannot get this game to recognize any controls: mouse, joystick, or keyboard. I do use the setup, which is in French. I comprehend the French used in the menu. Nothing works once I start the game. Only get up to the race car driver guy.

I do notice a new cfg file is written. Any ideas?

Rather a late reply (heh!) but there are 2 versions of the game around the Abandonware site. One is Vroom! (in French) which I think has some control issues. The other is F1 (Domark published it) which seems to work out better (in English).

Have a look around!

Anyway, I'll have a look for F-1 Domark.
Thanks for the advice!

* src/ints/bios_keyboard.cpp: enable interrupts when leaving
int16/ax=1 as bios uses sti/retf2 (fixes Joust)

Qbix mentioned some racing game that had a similar problem, and as
of my testing it is fixed as well.

Vroom 😀
Well i think he meant it as debugging shows the same game bug as
in Joust (interrupt flag disabled and waiting for ints). The games only
worked on real PCs because some bios ints enable the interrupt flag
by sideeffect (it contradicts the logic of an INT in some way, but well).
HAL provided a nice list of which interrupts have this effect and which don't.
