strange, but on my Toshiba laptop "Star Control II" cannot be played, because the game does some strange things with VGA palette and every time it is a completely random

The developers have recently fixed a number of video problems. If you wait about a week, I think the next experimental version that incorporates these fixes can be downloaded here:

Looks like it was just fixed today in the CVS: http://pcnwstage.phys.rug.nl/dosboxcvs.txt
add the switch /g:bios to the starcon executable. (if it doesn't worked then you have a badly cracked executable) (works for 0.63)
