I'm trying to install Colonization from the original floppy disks, but when I try to run "install.exe", it's giving me an error message "You have specified a drive that doesn't physically exist!".

System specs:
DosBox 0.63 on Gentoo Linux
XP2800+ underclocked to 1666MHz
1 GB RAM
Generic floppy drive
Drive C is a FAT32-formatted 53GB partition
Drive A is the floppy drive, mounted read-only on /mnt/floppy

I've checked the disks, and they haven't gone bad.

I have that game as well, the installer uses some bios stuff to detect the disks and this doesn't seem to work. You could try to install it with dosemu (it is in portage, the graphical version is launched with xdosemu, the standard configuration should work).

How about running the installer natively, under NTVDM? Then, playing the game using DOSBox. 😎

Kinda difficult under Linux unless you load up another emulator.....
