Hi,
I'm a fool to playing Settler 1.
I can play "Settler 1" with my normaly PC (P4, 3 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, graphic nvidia 6600), but with my DELL notebook (Celeron 1.3 GHz, 512 MB RAM, intel extreme graphic) not in the fullscreen mode, only in a resolution with 640x480.
What are the reasons of this error?

Hello,
the game will started, I hear the music of the game, but then the DosBOX closed - I can not see the error.
I used a batch file (settler.bat) to started the DosBOX, which started the game. Is that the reason?, I don't think that.

Settlers1 uses a tweaked mode that might be incompatible
with the laptop screen resolution. Maybe somebody here
has an idea about this issue.
You could try different drivers for your graphics card,
or replace the SDL.dll (if using some windows).
The way the game is started shouldn't matter, but of
course you can try the executables, too.
play with output and fullfixed/fullresolution settings in dosbox.conf
