I checked some old threads about the Ultima 4 update problems, but the solutions given (set machine to VGA) don't seem to work.

Basically what happens is that if I turn the VGA update on (setup.bat) and set my sound card and then run the game, the intro is shown. The music plays. However if I try to create a character or journey onward it boots me out.

I've tried all sorts of options (ems, resolutions, etc) Nothing seems to help.

I'm using ykhwong's (Daum Cafe) CVS build.
