it took me some time to get around this one so i thought it would be worth a post.

playing master of orion in dosbox has - at least at my pc (amd 64 3000+) - some serious performance problems. so its best to run it directly under windows 64 itself. problem is it won't install properly, at least it refused to do so on my computer, telling me that the game was not compatible with the OS.

the solution i finally came up with is to use dosbox to install MOO2 wherever you want. after that you just start the game directly under windows (use the orion95.exe which is the windows95 binary - it's automatically installed even if you install in dos-mode).

it seems the install-routine is 16-bit and therefor won't start on win 64 but the game nevertheless does have a 32-bit executable which runs just fine.
