try createing a save folder or a savegame folder

Without more info, there could be many possibilities, including:
- Save directory is read-only
- DOSBox version is too old and may have problems creating new files/directories
- You may be trying to save to a CD or other read-only filesystem
- Your mount setup may be weird
- Who knows...
