Legend of Kyrandia II, cannot run using either VDMS Sound or DOSBox

When I try to run the game using DOSBox, I get an error stating "A CD-ROM device driver is required to run Hand of Fate CD."

Appempting to use VDMS Sound will allow the intro to play, but once "Start a new game is chosen, it crashes with a fatal error. "The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction."

Trying to run it in XP compatibility mode, of course, results in seriously FUBARed sounds. (Scratchy feedback type noises.) This occurs with both of my XP computers.

Honestly, I didn't check the version, since I only redownloaded it yesterday. I used the number in the forum posting rules. The rest is verified where possible. I am aware this probably loses me a few respect points. ^^;;

And yes, on the desktop I actually mounted both of the DVD drives on there, and on the laptop, it's sole drive.
