I use SBPro for digitized sounds, and I tried POP2 1.0, 1.1 and IR (initial release) version but all of these versions under DOSBox suffer a strange problem with missing some sounds: once is sword swoosh, with another version there is no steps sound.... SB is working fine with other games and is configured as "SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H5 P330 T6". The bugs seem in Prince Of Persia 2 itself...

As a check just use ALT+N up to the cave level I use for testing... do a few steps and extract the sword and press fire. Some versions have no step sounds, others have no swoosh sound using the sword.
Or maybe the sword swoosh is by design audible only in combat?

To be exact, this is the detailed list of gfx/audio glitches I've found in POP2:
v IR = no steps sounds, muted missing sword swoosh sound except in combat
v 1.0 = has steps sounds, muted missing sword swoosh sound except in combat
v 1.1 = has steps sounds, muted missing sword swoosh sound except in combat, has a ugly gfx glitch entering exit doors in the cave level (sprite passes through the wall):

Another issue:
after I run POP2 MT32 (any version), other games like Budokan MT32 or Lakers vs Celtics and the NBA Playoffs MT32 have music messed up sounding like a wrong soundfont...
Is there a "reset" cmd in DOSBox for MT-32?

Found the workaround at https://github.com/dosbox-staging/dosbox-staging/issues/2795
Using a .BAT file to run after POP1 & 2:

config -set mididevice mt32

solves messed up music with MT32 games run after POP 1 & 2.

It is all as designed, not a problem with your config. Sword swoosh is only audible in combat. IR has no step sounds, and the sprite passing through the wall when exiting (not just in cave levels) is a bug in 1.1.
