wouldn't we risk with this patch that pc speaker games get their timer disabled ?
afterall some commands are send to both the speaker and the timer in this patch

pcspeaker has its own implementation of the timer which is only controlled by the PCSPEAKER_SetCounter(p->cntr,p->mode) call in write_latch. The functionality of write_latch is not changed by the patch.

do you have some specs of that gate2 thing ? (specificly describing the link between the pcspeaker and it. I can find the gate 2 in the intel specs on the timer, but not it's linking to keyboard port)

The two patches related to the timer look correct. Will have to test that reload thingie with some demos although it is probably correct

It's not there, that's why I thought it got lost. (It said something about my session being invalid but apparently succeeded on the second try which it did not). I'm writing the message again now...

Why not just use gettimeofday() instead of INT8 ticks?
ticks seem to no stay accurately in time over the whole day.
