I have my dosbox.conf set to serial2=modem, and i've used this before. I'm on a new computer new, and whenever i dial out, it says NO CARRIER.

why would this be so? What causes the modem in dosbox to return "NO CARRIER". On a modem, its because there's no dial tone. What is it in dosbox? How can i get past this?

does it have something to do with my router/ I've forwarded port 23, but realy, that should not matter for dialing out. I can get IPX play to work fine, but its slower than modem play (dont' ask me why). It would be nice to solve this issue.

it says exactly

Serial2: Warning: tried to activate FIFO
Comment Sent to modem ->ATS0=1<-

Modem response: OK
Command sent to modem: ->ATDTxxxxxxxxxxxx<- (xxx = ip address)

Connecting to host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx port 23
Failed to connect.
Modem response: NO CARRIER
Command sent to modem -><-

Command sent to modem: ->AT H0<-

Modem Response: OK

that is precisely what it says.

The computer you are trying to connect to can't be reached. If it is behind a router, port 23 needs to be forwarded. If it runs on a unix-like operating system, a port greater than 1023 must be chosen.
