Hi, I'm looking to build a retro PC with compact flash as storage, I'm able to obtain a compact flash of 16 gb 266x ultimate from Kingston, I'm wondering if I will be able to use this card with an cf to ide adapter, I don't care if I end up using only 2 gb of the card.
Has anyone tested this card with retro builds?

Difficult to say as that can depend on what kind of cf to ide adapter is used. Some don't like a certain type of brands from what I've heard.

But for me personally all CF cards that I tried work. I tried different adapters and pc's and used Transcend, SanDisk and Dane-Elec without problems. Sizes ranged from 256Mb to 32Gb (with speeds up to 800x).

Only problem I had had to do with a cd-rom drive. The isa controller didn't like that drive as slave and refused to boot. Changed the controller and the problem was gone (didn't want to change the drive).
