Hi. I've got a ASUS Isa-486sv2 mobo. Has no battery. When I tried to save to bios I get lots of beeping and then machine locks up. If I boot to ms dos and press control all delete I get the. beeping. Sometimes 5 in a row, sometimes 9 on the ami bios.

How did this happen? I soldered a coin Cell battery holder and put in a 2025 and later a 2035. When I got the symptoms I described, I desoldered. Still have problems. Board was fine bwfore soldering.. did I mess up the bios chip somehow? I'll take out the ram and re seat in case they got loose. Otherwise machine runs just fine and I can reset if I touch the reset pins on the mobo.

Maybe the board expects a 5v external power supply for the bios settings to store, and the current 3v battery dies not provide enough to fully store, but to activate a little. Can you test with 3x 1,5v battery instead?

Stuck at 10MHz...

Its a good idea. I will construct a charger with an old speaker 4 pin.
